Bradley & Kate
We began our work with Bradley and Kate in Alegría Village by building a retaining wall. The wall stopped erosion and protected land that heavy rain had been washing away.
Next, we built several garden beds and a large pond. The pond now collects stream water that runs through their land during the rainy season. We also planted trees that hold moisture in the soil. In time, these trees should help the pond keep water through the dry months.
We shaped paths through the garden with stone taken from their land. We also planted more than 80 exotic fruit tree varieties along with pollinator plants to support fruit production.
After just one year, their young soursop trees are already fruiting.
